In October 2022, Safe to Create created a “Code of Behaviour” so everyone working in the arts/creative sectors knows their employee rights, employer obligations and what services and supports exist. All arts organisations and individuals are encouraged to formally sign up and publicly declare their commitment to the implementation of the “Code of Behaviour”. In November 2022, Safe to Create created a series of workshops called “Code on the Road”, happening around the country to guide people through this process.
Please also see “Guidance for Compering”, a set of resources for comperes, performers and event organisers at folk events/ festivals developed by FairPlé sister organisation, Esperance. It includes suggested language for event introductions, a checklist of information to find out from performers in advance, and tips for event organisers when briefing comperes. For performers, there is a template to send to event organisers plus examples of access riders created by members of English Folk Expo’s Folk Talk Together: Access All Areas group.
